sorry but petrucci is totally not playing those 16th note triplets at 46:26 even though I can hear them. I wonder if he messed up and they punched it in... or maybe took footage and audio from different nights. I wouldn't believe that petrucci is miming his performance.

Magini might be a good drummer, but his drum microphone setup sucks. Mangini's drums were always tuned differently than Portnoy's and you can tell in the way the microphones were setup. Portnoy's drum microphone setup was always more natural. While he can perform the MP songs, they aren't played the same or microphoned the same. They sound completely different and less fluid. Part of that is the fact that he didn't write the songs. The same thing is going to happen to Portnoy when he tries to play Mangini songs. It's going to sound like John Bonham playing technical drum parts. Portnoy is more of a groove drummer that has an insane internal metronome. A Nightmare to Remember sounds completely different with Portnoy playing it.

It’s almost unfair to other musicians how good these guys are. F masters of their own instruments all of them. Saw these guys in Poughkeepsie when they got started with images and words followed them ever since
